Chicago Tuesday Asbestos Call 2/19: Vogelzang Law Sets Trial Dates

Chicago, IL (February 19, 2019) —

The Daley Center hosts an Asbestos Call every other Tuesday, which serves as the time and place to track the progress of a lawsuit in preparation for the trial date. The Vogelzang Law blog provides bi-weekly Asbestos Call updates.

Our trial team was in Court this past Tuesday to address several matters regarding the asbestos docket earlier this week and we were able to come to several agreements and set a few cases for trial. In January, plaintiff and defense attorneys in the case of Bruce Johnson tried to hash out a trial date for Mr. Johnson. Bruce Johnson is living with mesothelioma and his case was originally set in Madison County, IL. However, the case was re-filed in Cook County last fall and attorney Nathan Wallace of Vogelzang Law successfully set a trial date of November 2019. Mr. Johnson was exposed to talc products that were allegedly contaminated with asbestos fibers.

In addition to setting Mr. Johnson’s case for trial, Vogelzang Law also requested a trial date on behalf of Jim Gray. Mr. Gray was also diagnosed with mesothelioma and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. He was an insulator for the majority of his career and was heavily exposed to asbestos from both the application and removal of asbestos insulation. His trial has been set for December 2019.

Most of the other matters were handled on Tuesday prior to stepping up before the judge. Vogelzang Law will be back at the asbestos call on March 5, 2019.

The Vogelzang Law team continues to advocate for families across America who have been impacted by asbestos. Mesothelioma is a rare and aggressive cancer linked to asbestos fibers, which are easily inhaled when working with asbestos materials. As a result, insulators, pipefitters, construction workers, mechanics, and more are among the most at-risk groups.
