The 4th Annual Mesothelioma Race for Justice Raises $12,370

The fourth annual Mesothelioma Race for Justice 5K concluded last month with a host of excitement and fun! Racers had the entire month of September to walk or run the virtual race from wherever they were. We are so grateful to everyone who participated in this year’s race. It would not have been possible without you.

“It is heartbreaking to see our clients and their families endure a mesothelioma diagnosis,” says Mirela Kopier, this year’s MRFJ race director. “While our attorneys are fighting in the courtroom to get our clients the justice they deserve, we are striving to raise funds and awareness to put an end to this horrible cancer.”

We are so happy to share that this year’s race raised $12,370 for mesothelioma research! To date, the MRFJ has now raised over $48,000! Proceeds from the race are donated each year to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, the nation’s only nonprofit charity organization dedicated to ending mesothelioma and the suffering caused by this cancer. The Meso Foundation funds research to improve treatment options, providing treatment support and education for patients and their families, and advocating for federal funding for research.

“This year’s race was a big success, not just for the people who walked and ran, but for the patients that Vogelzang Law supports through this event,” said Julie Powers, executive director of the Meso Foundation. “Your generosity means that we can help more patients navigate those first terrifying weeks after diagnosis, that we can provide regular support groups for patients and loved ones at all phases of their journey and it means that we can continue to invest in cutting edge research to find better treatment options.”

With over 100 participants in 12 states, the race continues to bring together a network of individuals who are dedicated to ending the devastating effects of mesothelioma and fueling research efforts. We are so looking forward to hosting this incredible event next year!

“I am so excited for next year’s race to be in person again,” says Madelynne Drescher, public relations and MRFJ race associate. “We’ll have the really cool opportunity to welcome runners virtually from all over the country and globe, still, but also welcome participants and volunteers back at the Lake County Forest Preserve for a wonderful community event.”
