Vogelzang Law Raises $9,000 In First Annual Charity Golf Outing
We are pleased to announce that Vogelzang Law hosted its first charity golf outing last month! The event, which hosted 77 golfers, took place at the Rolling Green Country Club in Arlington Heights, Illinois. The charity golf outing serves as an integral component of Vogelzang Law’s large-scale commitment to fueling cancer research. The event raised over $9,000 for cancer research!
“Since the pandemic, so many charities have been affected by the lack of in-person fundraising,” said Mirela Kopier, this year’s Vogelzang Law Charity Golf Outing director. “Golf outings seemed to be the only in-person possibility to continue to raise funds for so many amazing organizations.”
The benefiting charities this year were the Breath of Life Foundation and the Lung Cancer Research Foundation. The Breath of Life Foundation is a charity foundation committed to the prevention and cure of mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases by providing critical funding for cutting-edge research at leading medical and academic institutions. The Lung Cancer Research Foundation envisions a world without lung cancer and remains committed to improving lung cancer outcomes by funding research for prevention, diagnosis, treatment and a cure. Both organizations are deeply aligned with our mission at Vogelzang Law as we seek justice for those diagnosed with cancer due to asbestos exposure.
“I believe that it is important to support all charities but these two are near and dear to the firm,” Kopier says. “The Breath of Life Foundation was founded by the asbestos workers and continually raises money to fund a cure for mesothelioma. The Lung Research Foundation not only champions for a cure for all lung cancers but is a huge patient advocate and supporter.”
Having attended several golf outings over the years to support local and national charities, and unions, Kopier and the rest of the Vogelzang Law team were excited to finally create the firm’s first golf outing.
“The idea for a golf outing has been marinating for a number of years,” she adds. “We have attended and supported many golf outings throughout the years and thought it was about time to host our own.”
Guests included union members, health professionals and other Vogelzang Law family and friends. Everyone enjoyed a wonderful day of golf, incredible raffle prizes and delicious food and drinks.
“It was wonderful seeing this community that we’ve worked so hard to grow and make meaningful connections with at other events and charity fundraisers, come out to support this cause,” recounts Madelynne Drescher, Vogelzang Law Charity Golf Outing associate. “Looking around and seeing friendly faces there to support the work you put into planning this event, but more importantly, the causes of our two benefiting organizations was a feeling that’s so heart-warming it’s difficult to describe.”
We are so grateful for our amazing sponsors who partnered with our Vogelzang Law team to help make this event possible. We also cannot thank our Vogelzang Law staff enough for volunteering during the event and making it so special.
“I would like to give a big thank you to Maddie,” said Kopier. “Without her, I can do any of this. I would like to thank Nick and Caylei for always believing in me and my work. I’m truly blessed to work for two people that have such big hearts and who value the importance of giving back.”
We are looking forward to many more Vogelzang Law golf outings to come! Check out our photos from this year’s event!
