Cate Wiza joined the Vogelzang Law litigation team in 2026. Her quick thinking and ability to connect with clients make her a welcome addition to the firm’s litigation team.
Cate completed her undergraduate work at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where she majored in International Business and minored in Spanish. She then attended Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where she made the Dean’s List for multiple semesters and was a participant in Moot Court.
Cate started her legal career in tax law but pivoted to asbestos litigation. Throughout her career as an attorney, Cate has demonstrated her ability to dive deep into complex issues and produce detailed analyses to resolve cases. She has also conducted in-depth legal research on issues including insurance coverage, premises liability, negligence, and civil procedure to support active litigation.
Cate’s decision to pursue the law was driven by a deep commitment to client advocacy and community service. She dreamed of a career where she made a true difference in people’s lives, while ensuring access to justice. She distinctly remembers her time at Loyola, where she worked as a student clinician in the Federal Tax Clinic. This gave her the opportunity to help real people work through their legal issues and see the difference it made in their lives, which was incredibly rewarding.
Outside of the office, Cate dotes on her corgi, Gus. She loves taking him for walks along the lake. Cate also takes advantage of the bountiful food scene in Chicagoland; you can often find her with friends trying new restaurants and experiences.
