Race for Justice in Support of Mesothelioma Research

September has arrived and with it, the first annual Mesothelioma Race for Justice 5K. The race will be held on Saturday, September 22 at the Lake County Forest Preserve Half Day in Vernon Hills. This year’s 5K will benefit the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, supporting mesothelioma research and providing important resources to patients and families across the United States. We couldn’t be prouder of our team, our sponsors, and our volunteers for all of their hard work in coming together to create a spectacular event and we hope to see you and your family there!

Since Vogelzang Law first began, giving back to the mesothelioma community has been of the utmost importance to our team. Individuals and families who are fighting mesothelioma face an incredible challenge with this aggressive disease, and it is important to us that we support those touched by this illness. Because mesothelioma is considered a rare disease with around 3,000 cases diagnosed in the United States each year, researchers can lack the funding that makes major innovations possible. For that reason, it is more important than ever to support mesothelioma research; with the help of research funding, patients with this disease may have the same opportunities for cutting-edge treatments and improved prognosis that scientists have been able to achieve for other major cancers through years of study. Using new research methods and clinical trials, doctors are creating unprecedented opportunity for mesothelioma patients to extend their life expectancy and offer relief from symptoms and side effects.

The Mesothelioma Race for Justice will benefit the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation based in Washington, D.C. Also known as the Meso Foundation, this organization leads the nation in mesothelioma research, sponsoring nearly $10 million in research grants. In fact, it is the only 501(c)3 nonprofit charity program dedicated to eradicating mesothelioma.

As the nation’s only non-government funder of peer-reviewed mesothelioma research, the Meso Foundation is working hard to build a better future for those affected by mesothelioma. In addition to research funding, the organization also provides crucial resources to patients and families facing this difficult situation. Educational tools, nationwide conferences, and explanations of treatment options can help families feel equipped to face their diagnosis. We are proud to partner with such a hard-working and passionate advocacy group to bring our debut race to life and help us make a positive impact in our community.

This year, runners, walkers, and families can expect to find more than just a great cause at the race. After you have crossed the finish line, join us for the post-race party, where we’ll celebrate a job well done with food trucks, local vendors, live music, and more. All are welcome to join us in support of a truly meaningful cause. The race, which kicks off at 9:00 AM, is open to runners and walkers of all ages and skill levels. We hope you’ll join us to build community, support cancer research, and fight back against mesothelioma. See you on the starting line!
