Vogelzang Law proudly features our Bankruptcy team in honor of International Women’s Day (IWD). Sadie Rose, Chloe Morrison, and Rocio Herrera make a daily difference in our clients’ lives. The bankruptcy team is often the last line of defense, and they bring not only decades of experience but compassion, fierce advocacy, and integrity to each case.
Women in the Workplace Today
Every year, IWD focuses on a theme that trumpets equality and moves us closer to a gender-equal world. This year, IWD’s theme is #InspireInclusion, a chance to discover that when women are inspired to be included, they can feel and perpetuate feelings of belonging, relevance, and empowerment.
But, while we continue to make strides towards a more inclusive workplace, there are gains to be made. Let’s look at the state of women in the workplace:
- Women account for 47.7% of the global workforce
- Women hold 50.04% of all jobs in the U.S.
- Women in Canada represent the highest labor force participation at 61.3%
- 75% of self-employed women love their job
- Only 27.1% of managers and leaders are women
- 42% of women claim they have been discriminated against because of their gender
- 48% of women occupy entry-level roles
- The pay gap is still 20% between men and women – for every dollar a man earns, a woman earns $.082
While these statistics seem disheartening, there is positive news in the legal field.
Statistics show a major shift in law firms in 2023. The National Association for Law Placements shows that 50.3% of U.S. associates were women, the first time women have outnumbered men. The law school gap continues to widen as women account for nearly 56% of all J.D. students.
Opportunities for women in leadership positions are slowly increasing, and firms are making positive changes to reward their organizations’ talent. We hope to see more and more women in leadership positions and recognition for their skills.
Rocio Herrera Embodies #InspireInclusion
Rocio is a key member of the firm’s bankruptcy department – she works tirelessly for her clients, filing claims and liens on their behalf. She is also integral to our Spanish-speaking team, helping an underrepresented demographic and ensuring they have a voice.
“In my current line of work, my results are easily measurable, and it would be easy to forget about the person and family behind the numbers,” says Rocio. “But I’m fortunate to be surrounded by incredible clients and a team and I love seeing the benefit my work brings to my clients.”

Vogelzang Law is proud to have this team of incredible women changing lives and leading by example. Outside the office, they are daughters, wives, mothers, and friends, giving back to the community and setting an example for generations to come.
Today and every day, let’s pay tribute to and commemorate the women who paved the way, set the bar, and made sacrifices for progress. We have the chance to lead change and promote gender equality.
